Mercia
Branding Beyond Brexit
This was a student design competition brief set by Elmwood Leeds, the premise of which was to create a brand for a devolved post-Brexit Kingdom based on the heptarchy of England during the 5th, 6th and 7th century. The concept that I sought to reflect was to create a brand that highlights & exaggerates the underlying issues that sparked Brexit and the events that could possibly follow. From the xenophobic and anti-immigration sentiment that fueled many of the Brexit votes, the Kingdom of Mercia centrally located in England has become a totalitarian and oppressive state that imprisoned and subjugated ethnic minorities. Inspired by Orwellian characteristics to deliver menacing and authoritarian language to identify various levels of this dystopia.
